A tribute to Italian cuisine: UNESCO recognises what we have always known
“A tribute to everything we stand for” — Agata Barbagallo

When we heard that Italian cuisine had been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, we immediately reached out to the Barbagallo family, who have been producing La Bio Idea for over 30 years. For Agata, the oldest sister of the three, this recognition feels like a tribute to everything we stand for. “Italian cuisine is our life. It’s how we grew up, and how we learned the values of care, respect, and simplicity.”

A way of living

This recognition is not just about recipes, but about a way of living. “Italy has enormous regional diversity, but the love for quality and sharing food is something we all have in common. ”What makes Italian cuisine so special? “It is honest. It’s built on simple, seasonal ingredients, prepared with love and care. We don’t try to impress, we tell a story about the land and the people who look after it.”

Organic is not a trend

Organic farming fits perfectly with this philosophy. “It’s not a trend, but a return to how food has always been produced: with respect for nature, in balance, and with attention.” For us at La Bio Idea, this means that every time you choose an organic Italian meal, you are not just choosing a product, but supporting a way of life — one that protects tradition, nature, and the future.
