Good Food, Great People, and a Better World
At La Bio Idea, cooking is about more than just flavour. Of course, we’re passionate about our sun-ripened tomatoes, golden pastas, and naturally tasty beans – but we also believe in doing things the right way. For us, good food should do good too.
That’s why we’re proud to be part of DO IT Organic, a certified B Corp. This means we take care of everyone in our supply chain, from the farmers in the fields to the team packing your pasta. Fair working conditions, respect for nature, and honest partnerships are all part of our recipe.
What is a B Corp?
B stands for Benefit for All – and that’s the heart of it. B Corps are businesses that meet high standards for social and environmental impact. From field to fork, the entire chain is assessed and held accountable. Certification isn’t forever – you’re re-evaluated every three years, so staying committed matters.
Each March, B Corp Month celebrates companies that are working to make business a force for good. This year, we’re raising a glass (or a fork!) to every member of the B Corp family.
How Do You Become a B Corp?
There are three key ingredients:
1. Impact Assessment
You need a minimum score of 80 points on a detailed review of your company’s impact; on people, planet, and everything in between.
2. Legal Commitment
You legally commit to putting people and the planet on equal footing with profit.
3. Transparency
Your scores are shared publicly and verified every three years.
Our Score? 90.
As part of DO IT Organic, La Bio Idea is proud to be certified with a score of 90, well above the required 80 points. Here’s where we shine:
-
Governance (17 points): We run a tight ship with honest, ethical practices.
-
Workers (27.2 points): Fair conditions and room to grow—on and off the job.
-
Community (14.1 points): We support local initiatives and value inclusion.
-
Environment (28.7 points): Organic farming and climate-friendly action are at our core.
-
Customers (2.8 points): You can count on quality and clear communication.

Grown with Care, the Sicilian Way
La Bio Idea’s roots stretch deep into the warm soil of Sicily, where family businesses like the Contornos and Barbagallos grow our wheat, tomatoes, and aubergines using time-honoured organic methods. These farmers don’t just grow ingredients—they pass down knowledge and love for the land from generation to generation.
We work closely with our partners to support natural practices, like rotating chickpeas and durum wheat to keep the soil healthy. That way, future generations can keep enjoying the flavours Sicily is known for.
