Pasta
La BIO IDEA pastaLa BIO IDEA pasta is made on Sicily by Fattoria Barbagallo, a family-run business founded in 1911. For nearly a century, the Barbagallos have been preparing in traditional fashion the most delicious Italian pasta from the best durum wheat from Sicily.
Cooperation with La BIO IDEA began in 1991. The pasta can now be found in organic food shops all over Europe. Angelo Barbagallo, representing the third generation, runs the pasta company, where the wheat is completely processed from kernels of grain to packaged pasta.
Professional skills are needed to make good pasta. Good pasta not only requires the right ingredients in the right proportions, but high-quality durum wheat, grinding, preparing the dough and the right pasta shape. That’s what distinguishes La BIO IDEA pasta from many other (also organic) pastas.
Barbagallo assesses the wheat quality, grinds the flour in 12 steps and slowly dries the shaped pasta at low temperature.
All of this is critical for the ultimate quality of La BIO IDEA pasta. When it slides into boiling water, a subtle aroma fills the kitchen and an absolutely delicious pasta appears that is alive and made with passion.

Citrus
Sicily is the perfect place to cultivate oranges and lemons. The climate is ideal and the volcanic soil gives the fruit a full and complex flavour. This fruit also forms the basis of the La BIO IDEA citrus products.
Squeeze lemon
The cap contains real essential lemon oil from the rind. By squeezing the lemon, the contents mix with the oil from the cap, providing an unusual lemon aroma and less acidity. For dressings, dishes or in a glass of mineral water during the summer.
Candied citrus
For use in baking pies, cakes or other pastry. Candied orange or lemon peel can also be used to prepare meat dishes, giving sauces a delicious aroma.

Tomatoes
La BIO IDEA fresh, sun-ripened organic tomato products Many tomatoes are needed to make the delicious La BIO IDEA tomato products (a 700 gram bottle of Passata contains 1.5 kg of fresh, selected round tomatoes and a 200 gram tin of tomato puree contains 1 kg of tomatoes). Passata and other tomato products are old methods, developed in Italy to enjoy this exquisite vegetable all year round.

Passata tomatoes
Nowadays, traditional passata is bottled by numerous families everywhere. Our passata is prepared in the best factories in more or less the same natural way.Passata is extremely suitable as a basis for tomato sauce or tomato soup. For enthusiasts, there is also La BIO IDEA Passata con basilico and Passata Rustica, a coarser passata that is cooked somewhat shorter, giving it a fresher taste.

Ketchup ‘classico’
La BIO IDEA tomato ketchup is a fresh, mild ketchup made from tomato puree with vinegar, and brought to taste with a bit of sugar and a dash of salt.
Pizza sauce with mushrooms
La BIO IDEA tomato-mushroom sauce is a filled sauce for pizzas. It consists of mildly condensed tomatoes, mushrooms and a dash of sea salt.
Vegetarian Bolognese sauce
La BIO IDEA vegetarian Bolognese sauce is made with soy and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Italian pasta sauces

La BIO IDEA delicacies When you think about Italian cuisine, you think about typically Italian specialities that give your meal that ‘Mediterranean’ tint, such as pizza, focaccia, pesto, balsamic vinegar, olives and olive oil. La BIO IDEA has all these delicacies and more in its assortment.
La BIO IDEA pizza bases
Are cooked in Italy according to a local recipe from the Novara province of the Piemonte region. There are also pizza bases made from spelt flour and small pizza bases for individual pizzas.
A quick organic pizza? Take a La BIO IDEA pizza base, brush it with olive oil, cover it with La BIO IDEA tomato sauce with mushrooms, grated cheese and then season it with some pepper and oregano. Place it in a pre-heated oven at 220 °C.
La BIO IDEA focaccia
Focaccia is a flat Italian bread originally from the area around Genoa. Our focaccia is seasoned with rosemary.
Focaccia is often used in Italy for sandwiches, but it is also delicious as a side dish, plain or sprinkled with olive oil or with pesto.
La BIO IDEA pesto
Italy has as many pesto recipes as mammas. La BIO IDEA has several regional pesto recipes, each with its own character made by Fratelli Contorno.
Pesto Genovese. The best known pesto. La BIO IDEA uses Grano Padano cheese and almonds as nuts.
Pesto Siciliano. The pesto from the origin of La BIO IDEA. Typically Sicilian ingredients such as almonds and lemon give the pesto its unique flavour.
Pesto Rosso. Aside from tomato, the red variant of basil is also used for La BIO IDEA Pesto Rosso, very aromatic, which is characteristic for this basil.

La BIO IDEA has twelf well-known varieties of canned pulses, haricots and canned corn. They can be used to prepare a delicious meal or a fresh salad in no time.
Pulses contain high-grade proteins and are ideal meat substitutes, certainly in combination with grains. During the summer, beans, lentils and chickpeas can also be used for salad, spread or soup for a delicious and complete meal.
Recipes for endless variation can be found in all cultures. The pulses are already cooked and only need to be warmed up or added to the dish.
